Nottingham Forest may have to trade Chris Wood this summer, according to Football Insider sources.

In the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke reported that Premier League clubs would be interested in signing Wood, 32, if the Reds were demoted or forced to sell players.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team may have to sanction player departures this summer in order to balance the books.

According to Football Insider, Wood’s outstanding performance in recent weeks may prompt Premier League clubs to take advantage of Forest’s desire to sell.

Will Chris Wood leave Nottingham Forest this summer?

He joined Forest permanently last summer for a reputed £15 million following a six-month loan spell at Newcastle United.

The striker has 13 goals in all competitions this season, including one in his past four league games.
He also scored a spectacular hat-trick against Newcastle in the Reds’ 3-1 win on Boxing Day.

Despite missing five league games between February and March due to a hamstring injury, he remains the club’s leading goal scorer this season, seven goals ahead of second-place Taiwo Awoniyi.

The club may also be obliged to sanction the sale of attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, with Football Insider reporting (1 April) that Tottenham and Newcastle United may have to spend upwards of £50 million to sign him this summer.

Nottingham Forest are 17th in the Premier League rankings following their 3-1 defeat at Tottenham on Sunday (7 April).

They face Wolves at the City Ground on Saturday afternoon (April 13).
