Given their strong position in the Premier League table, Nottingham Forest were destined to be the subject of intriguing transfer rumours, and the first one has surfaced.
We’re just halfway through the Premier League season, but it appears that European football could return to the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest have defied expectations to sit second in the table, and the greatest part is that they show no signs of letting up.
Of course, things could change, but based on recent performances, that does not appear to be the case, and Nuno Espirito Santo is set to return to the Wolves.
Wolves will enter this game without Matheus Cunha, which is fantastic news for the Reds.
The transfer window is now officially open, and Forest has already been mentioned as an enticing destination for a player, but this is more geared toward the summer.
Nottingham Forest considered as a possibility for Manchester United’s Harry Maguire
Harry Maguire joined Manchester United for a record £80 million in 2019.
However, he has not been at his best in recent years, continually being in and out of the team and losing confidence at Old Trafford.
In an ESPN piece about the prospects of several players, they listed Nottingham Forest as a possible destination for Harry Maguire.
He is out of contract this summer, as mentioned.
Nottingham Forest have the league’s second-lowest possession rate and one of its greatest defensive records. If they get a spot in a European competition next season and want to invest some money while focusing on their counterattacking style, Maguire would be an especially interesting addition.
Is a move for Maguire likely?
There are two simple reasons why this is unlikely.
One, his pay will be far too high. Nottingham Forest has long prided itself on buying cheap and not overpaying on wages, and this is unlikely to alter anytime soon.
Second, Maguire has showed very little in recent years for Manchester United and is no better than what they already have. In fact, he’s gotten worse.
