Nottingham Forest’s January transfer window is in full swing, and Nuno Espirito Santo appears to be prioritizing one position.
Despite the fact that Forest have declared that they are prioritising three positions in January: a striker, a winger, and a centre-back, rumors concerning another area of the Forest squad persist.
Left-back isn’t necessarily an urgent problem, with Neco Williams doing well and Alex Moreno hinting at his wish to stay at Forest in a recent social media post. However, Moreno’s arrangement is just temporary, therefore Evangelos Marinakis is correct to look for a long-term solution.
Forest will not sign Moreno on a permanent basis in January, prompting speculation that other players, notably Pervis Estupinan, could join Espirito Santo’s squad.
The next candidate on the left-back list is a former Barcelona star, with rumors confirming Forest’s interest in him.
Moussa N’Diaye, a former Barcelona player who impressed for Anderlecht, has confirmed his interest in Nottingham Forest.
However, in an interview with D Sports (as reported by Sport Witness), N’Diaye went one step further to affirm Forest’s interest in his talents.
N’Diaye stated, “There are discussions, but I leave that to my agent.” “I am still focused on my performances for Anderlecht.”
It’s evident why the Forest manager is interested in N’Diaye’s performances, as he completes 61.3% of his dribbles from left back each game and wins 61.8% of his defensive duels.
Forest may face a hurdle if they are serious about following the Senegalese star, as N’Diaye divulged specifics about his future plans beyond Anderlecht during the same interview.
Moussa N’Diaye discusses his ‘dream’ move from Anderlecht
Continuing the conversation, N’Diaye expressed a desire to return to Spain if a move from Anderlecht were to occur, possibly feeling he had unfinished business from his time in Barcelona.
He stated: “As a league, I adore Spain. “My dream is to return there.” N’Diaye also stated that he is now satisfied in Belgium, saying, “I’m in a very nice dynamic. I wish to carry on like this.
“Last year, an injury took me off the field for five months. When I returned, my replacement had appeared. I fought hard to restore my position.”
Given N’Diaye’s desire to return to Spain following his stint at Anderlecht, a move to the City Ground is clearly not one of his top objectives.
Forest’s chances of qualifying for European football this season may change his mind, but Espirito Santo and the club’s owner may need to prioritise other left-back options in the meanwhile.
