Nottingham Forest are looking to add a few players this summer, and another name is making the rounds with the window now open.
Forest have already signed Marko Stamenic, who will spend the season on loan with Olympiacos.
Forest also signed Germany under-17 World Cup champion Eric da Silva Moreira yesterday, as the summer rebuilding effort intensifies.
There is also a goalkeeper on the way, with Carlos Miguel reportedly clearing a physical before joining from Corinthians.
Forest is now looking for a striker, and at least one talisman appears to be on the verge of signing before the season begins in mid-August.
Nottingham Forest wants Edmund Baidoo.
According to Sky Sports, Forest and Brighton are fighting to recruit promising attacker Edmund Baidoo.
The Reds are interested in the Ghanaian player who presently plays for Norwegian club Sogndal.
Last season, he made his senior football debut under manager Tore Andre Flo, a former Chelsea striker.
He did not disappoint, either, scoring nine goals and assisting seven times in just 16 games.
According to reports, the player is not in a hurry to change clubs right now, but he is open to the possibility of moving to another European league.
Baidoo might be a surprise package for Forest.
With Forest looking to duplicate Brighton’s recruitment technique in the near future, it’s intriguing that they’re competing to sign Baidoo.
The teenager won plaudits from his management in March, when he signed with the club after first joining for trial.
Flo told Ghana Web, “He stayed with us for 14 days in Spain and made a great impression. He is a youthful, intriguing player.
“He has great speed and good technique and can challenge any defender.”
Baidoo is obviously going to be very raw at 18 years old, but this is the type of signing that will likely thrill Forest fans more than an elderly striker.
In terms of financial fairness, this agreement may be great.
Baidoo would not break the bank, and if he succeeds in the Premier League, he might easily be sold for a substantial profit later on.
Forest would welcome a younger striker into their squad, and it remains to be seen whether Baidoo is the guy they choose.
