Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as emphasis turns to the January window for Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds
Ola Aina, a Nottingham Forest defender, is thought to have attracted another admirer ahead of the January transfer window.
As things stand, the fullback will be out of contract at City Ground next summer. The Reds are rumored to be prepared to offer him a new long-term contract, but rival teams are keeping an eye on his status.
Aina has already been connected with Roma, and fellow Serie A club AC Milan is thought to be interested in him. According to Italian magazine AS Roma Live, Aina is “popular” with both clubs due to his financial value and versatility to play on either wing.
Aina, who can play at left or right defense, has emerged as a crucial player for Forest since signing as a free agency in the summer of 2023. The club activated a one-year extension option on his contract 12 months later, and the terms are set to expire at the end of the current season.
According to the article, Roma is particularly interested in players whose contracts expire in 2025, and Aina is “one of the first names” on their transfer wish list, either in January or next summer. Meanwhile, Milan is “remaining vigilant” regarding the Nigeria international’s contract status.
Last month, Aina was asked about allegations that Forest were looking to lock him down for the future. The 28-year-old revealed little but stated that he enjoys his time on the Trent River’s banks.
“All I can say is that I am quite happy at Forest. “Fantastic club, I feel at home, and we’re still growing,” Aina stated at the time. “I’m building; the club’s building. Let’s see what occurs in the future.
