Noel Gallagher has now offered his thoughts on the City Ground after visiting Nottingham Forest last season.
The 57-year-old visited Nottingham Forest’s home ground last season when Manchester City faced Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds in April, with Pep Guardiola’s side winning 2-0.
So, what did Noel Gallagher think about the City Ground? Let us have a look.
What Noel Gallagher Thought About the City Ground
The world-famous singer recently spoke with The Athletic about Manchester City.
Gallagher’s initial views on the City Ground were not used in the original article, but a fresh piece from The Athletic, which focuses on upcoming stadium upgrades pushed by Evangelos Marinakis, now includes the Mancunian’s thoughts.
Gallagher is alleged to have described the City Ground as “a throwback to the old days” and compared it to Everton’s “old school” Goodison Park, from which the Toffees will soon depart.
The former Oasis musician appears to have enjoyed his visit to Nottingham Forest’s legendary stadium.
Unfortunately, these ancient venues are becoming increasingly rare, as many clubs, including the aforementioned Everton, opt for newer, more contemporary stadiums.
Nottingham Forest could also relocate.
Marinakis may take the Reds to Toton in the midst of a highly public spat with Nottingham City Council, which wants the Reds to pay £850,000 per year to lease the City Ground rather than the existing £250,000 cost, according to The Athletic.
Supporters have already stated that they would want to remain at the City Ground, and The Athletic quotes Tom Cartledge, Chairman of Nottingham Forest, as calling the facility a “forever home” for the Garibaldi.
However, with talks between Nottingham Forest and the City Council ongoing, a relocation away from the City Ground is still possible in the future, at least for The Athletic.
