Nils Koppen has spoken to Rangers fans after the club announced the pre-contract signing of Dundee midfielder Lyall Cameron.
The Ibrox technical director has previously stated that recruiting Scotland’s top young homegrown talent will be Rangers’ primary transfer objective.
The summer signing of Lyall Cameron, who has been a star for Dundee in the Scottish Premiership this season, is a statement of determination.
Rangers have subsequently announced the signing of Cameron, who will join the Ibrox squad this summer, and Nils Koppen could not be happier.
Nils Koppen on the ‘hugely crucial’ Lyall Cameron agreement.
“I am delighted that we have agreed a deal for Lyall to join the club and continue his career at Rangers come the summer,” Koppen told the Rangers website.
“He is a brilliant young player with extensive experience in the Scottish Premiership, and bringing young Scottish talent to our first-team squad is extremely important to all of us at the club.
“Lyall has a lot of potential and I look forward to seeing him continue to grow at Rangers in the coming years.”
Rangers transfer deadline day chase continues.
Despite announcing Lyall Cameron’s pre-contract deal, Rangers have only signed one player in January.
Rangers’ only contract with the club to run the rule over the Lille centre-back this summer is for Rafael Fernandes.
Rangers have also signed players such as Rabbi Matondo and Kieran Dowell this month, although they have yet to make any offensive additions.
Rumours linking Rangers to PSV Eindhoven forward Couhaib Driouech have been debunked, but the club is looking for another new signing this January.
Rangers may be 10 points behind Old Firm rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, but the team is still targeting the Europa League and Scottish Cup this season.
Philippe Clement has stated that the squad has to be strengthened, and Rangers are still working on acquisitions in the background.
