Nikola Katic, who is on loan from Plymouth Argyle, is never afraid to show his Rangers pride.

Even after the Bosnian international, 28, had a Man of the Match performance against Liverpool, the centre-back acknowledged his affection for the Ibrox club.

Nikola Katic went viral for a funny post-match interview after Plymouth shocked the Premier League leaders in the FA Cup.

Katic’s expletive-laden post-match interview, in which he pressed ex-Celtic player Conor Hazard about his Rangers allegiances, earned the defender instant cult hero status among the Pilgrims.

However, in an interview with the Championship club’s social media team, Nikola Katic maintained his affection for Rangers, having previously stated that he intends to return to Ibrox someday.

Nikola Katic tells Plymouth fans he supports Rangers

Nikola Katic responded ‘Rangers’ when asked by the Plymouth social media team what football club he supports.

The ex-Slaven Bepulo defender also named Real Madrid as one of the teams he support, with the Spanish club’s 10th Champions League title his best experience as a fan.

The former Rangers defender spent four years at Ibrox between 2018 and 2022, the latter half of which was interrupted by a loan move to Hajduk Split after suffering an ACL injury.

Rangers have left an indelible mark on the towering 6ft4 defender and Katic also named former Gers teammate Borna Barisic as his best friend in football.

After leaving Ibrox, the defender joined FC Zurich, and this is his first return to British football since his stint with Rangers.

Nikola Katic has unfinished business at the Rangers.

Rangers were linked with a January move for Nikola Katic before the centre-back joined Plymouth Argyle on loan.

Katic has joined Plymouth’s Bosnian manager Miron Muslic and will aim to lift the Championship strugglers off the bottom of the table in the second half of the season.

Prior to the move to Home Park, sources close to Katic said he was open to returning to Rangers before the club signed Rafael Fernandes on loan from Lille.

The defender has previously stated that he has unfinished business at Ibrox and informed former Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson that the club will sign him.

Speaking to the Athletic in 2022, Katic stated, “I will always have a connection to Rangers.”

“I said to (sporting director) Ross Wilson on my last day that I’ll see him in two years when he buys me back!”

Regarding his Rangers departure, the defender stated, “They told we were to come back at maybe 80 percent of our fitness, but I was obsessed with my body fat because I wanted to come back 100 percent.

“Day one was spent attempting to prove myself to Van Bronckhorst. It’s not horrible, but I felt like I didn’t get a chance because we didn’t communicate.

“I asked his coaches whether they could walk me through their requests and what they expect from their defenders, but I didn’t think they were that interested and I never got that information.”
