First-team investment is expected this summer now our PSR position has finally improved following a shrewd January.

However, we’ve already seen the club push to bring in a couple of exciting youngsters, with Paul Mitchell pushing to improve the club’s Academy and recruit a number of top talents from across the globe.

Vakhtang Salia will arrive from Dinamo Tiblisi in August and Baran Yildiz has joined from Turkey, and it seems we’ve finally won the race to sign another teenage talent.

Spaniard to sign and summer plans revealed

According to Craig Hope at The Mail, Newcastle are now ‘very close’ to signing off a deal to bring in Malaga talent Antonio Cordero.

The North East reporter has revealed on Tuesday lunchtime that the winger’s family have been on Tyneside and a plan is already in place ahead of his arrival on a free transfer this summer.

After beating La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid to a deal, Newcastle have agreed to loan out the 18-year-old ahead of the 2025/26 season, offering him a chance to continue playing first team football after shining in the Spanish second tier with Malaga.

A similar plan is in place for Salia – the Georgian will arrive from Dinamo Tiblisi when he turns 18 in August – with Paul Mitchell looking to follow the steps taken for Yankuba Minteh, who shone during his spell with Feyenoord following a £6m move from Odense.

    Who is Antonio Cordero?

Cordero can operate down either flank, but the majority of his appearances have come down the left for Malaga.

He’s enjoying a breakthrough season with the Spaniards and has delivered four goals and six assists in 24 league appearances in LaLiga2.

At international level, the youngster has caps for Spain at Under-18 and Under-19 level, where he’s scored once in six appearances for the latter age group. Watch him in action below:
