Clubs are getting their ducks in a row in terms of transfers with Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff expected to leave this summer
Newcastle United have until the end of July if they want to cash in on former Everton striker Moise Kean.
The 25-year-old has been watched by the Magpies this term and has set Italian football on fire with 21 goals this term in all competitions. Having left Juventus for £25million last summer to join Fiorentina he has attracted interest from the Magpies and West Ham.
His form this season has resulted in an Italy call-up for the Nations League quarter-finals against Germany. Despite only being at Fiorentina for one campaign, the Europa League hopefuls are prepared to cash in on the one-time Paris St-Germain forward.
A clause of £43m is available to clubs before the end of July, and Kean, who had an unconvincing spell at Everton, is eager to impress again in the Premier League. He could yet sign off with the Florence club by winning the Europa Conference League too.
Interest in Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff cranks up
The midfielder appears to approaching a crossroads in his Newcastle career given the depth Eddie Howe has in his midfield. It looks like Sandro Tonali, Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes have the three first choice engine room slots sewn up.
And Howe is looking to give teenager Lewis Miley more and more opportunities as he develops leaving Longstaff, at 27, knowing that first-team chances are looking limited. One of the lesser noted moments of the Carabao Cup final was Longstaff getting stripped and ready to go on for the final stages before Howe changed tact and brought on Emil Krafth instead.
It is understood that both Everton and Manchester United, back in for his signature, are keen on a cash deal this summer. With a year left on his contract Newcastle also know they can make a pure profit deal for the Academy product.
Newcastle fan Longstaff would leave with a heavy heart, given his affinity with the Magpies, but as he nears his peak years, it is vital that he plays regular first-team action. Man United and the Toffees have both scouted him in recent times.
Newcastle United stars enjoy downtime in Middle East
The Magpies have been told to rest and recuperate during the Premier League pause in fixtures after last weekend’s Carabao Cup win. Eddie Howe’s side do not need to start full preparations for their next game against Brentford on April 2 until their return to the UK.
Of course, United have their Carabao Cup parade to look forward to next weekend but this week has been about recovery for the non-international brigade. So far they have enjoyed watching Dan Burn make his England debut from Dubai as the 6ft 7in defensive ace helped the Three Lions to a 2-0 win over Albania.
As Burn’s team-mates watched on from Dubai, an almighty roar went up as his first half header crashed against the bar. It’s understood that Newcastle players have spent some time at Cloud 22 at the world-famous Atlantis in Dubai.
Residents can enjoy breathtaking views of the Palm Island on floating beds at Dubai’s most “insta-worthy” spot. The facility boasts: “With breathtaking views and ultra-luxurious settings, this is the place to let your personality shine without limit, your pleasures satiated, and life taken to another level.”
