New Leeds blow as ‘quick’ Premier League star ready to join Championship rivals after Elland Road bid – Romano

Leeds United are to be active over the next few days as Daniel Farke seeks to bring in three or more new recruits to Elland Road following some huge exits.

Georginio Rutter’s impending £40 million move to Brighton, along with the club’s failure to win its first three games and elimination from the Carabao Cup in the first round, has exacerbated the situation. Rutter has said goodbye.

Rutter joins Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray, and Glen Kamara in leaving Elland Road this summer after playing important roles for Farke last season. Last season, he played in 51 games for Leeds and contributed 24 goals.

However, Brighton have moved to recruit the Frenchman, leaving Leeds in need of replacements for both Rutter and Summerville, as well as another full-back and a midfielder, within the next 11 days.

Leeds poised to lose out on “quick” target to Scott Parker’s Burnley.

Bashir Humphreys is an unusual name associated with Leeds. Manager Enzo Maresca has put England U21 star Humphreys available for transfer, and Leeds is thought to have made a bid for him.

However, Leeds’ pursuit of the “quick” defender is hampered by Championship rivals Burnley’s plans to sign the left-footed centre-back, following their magnificent 5-0 win over Cardiff City on Saturday.

According to Romano, Burnley have agreed to sign Bashir Humphreys. The loan has an obligatory buy clause and will become permanent after a 5-year contract. Bashir is regarded as a crucial defender by Burnley both now and in the future.

Interest in Humphreys was most likely to depend on Max Wober.

Leeds’ interest in Humphreys was surprising given that the club is looking at positions other than centre-back. However, it is possible that Leeds were just interested in Max Wober’s departure.

The Austrian was an unused substitute in Leeds’ first two Championship games and had a bad performance against Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup. However, he has moved from the Bundesliga to Leeds United as a substitute.

Gladbach’s sports director Roland Virkus is still interested in signing Wober and may make a late move in the window to get him back. Humphreys was formerly considered his replacement, but that is no longer the case.
