Aidy White praised one Leeds United player for setting the tone against Norwich City, claiming he was the Whites’ man of the match in the play-off semi-final second leg.
Leeds do have a date at Wembley Stadium, where they will face either West Brom or Southampton for a spot in the Premier League next season.
In actuality, Leeds dominated Norwich, going 3-0 up in the first half and cruising after the break, with Crysencio Summerville completing the scoring.
Leeds were not only excellent offensively, but also defensively, with Ethan Ampadu’s error providing Norwich with their only serious chance of the game.
Joe Rodon set the tone with a ‘great’ performance in Leeds’ triumph.
And, once again, Joe Rodon was outstanding alongside Ampadu. The Welshman was tasked with facing Josh Sargent and Ashley Barnes, who may have been formidable opponents. But Rodon looked every bit the Premier League player Tottenham paid £11 million for.
And, speaking with BBC Radio Leeds (heard on 16/5; 22:00), Aidy White stated that the Welshman was the standout performer on a wonderful night for Leeds.
“One enormous mention goes to Joe Rodon, who I believe set the tone for the game there. “He was a stonewall throughout and a fantastic player, probably my man of the match tonight,” he stated.
Leeds’ summer priorities couldn’t be clearer.
Leeds fans definitely didn’t need another reminder of how essential it is that Rodon stays after this season. The Whites knew from their prior Premier League experience how tough it was to recruit good centre-backs.
Rodon is yet unproven at the highest level, so if Leeds succeeds, he will be questioned.
However, Rodon and Ampadu have played admirably for the majority of the season, and they rose to the occasion in Leeds’ biggest game yet.
