Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news: buzz swirls around Reds defender amid summer window interest.
Murillo’s agent has warned it will be “very difficult” for Nottingham Forest to keep their star defender as interest in him grows.
Following his successful first season in English football, a number of clubs are keeping an eye on the Brazilian. In a recent interview, he confirmed that his future is unknown, fueling speculation that a summer move is in the works.
The Reds avoided a situation in which they would have had to contemplate selling Murillo for a low price in order to comply with Profitability and Sustainability Rules by last weekend’s accounting deadline. It should put them in a solid position to deal with any offers that come in, but the transfer rumors around the 22-year-old are unlikely to die down anytime soon.
In an interview with journalist Benjamin Back for his Benja Me Mucho YouTube channel (translated via Premier League Brasil), agent Hugo Giuseppe stated of his client: “We know from the club that there are conversations between Nottingham and some clubs. I believe it is quite tough for a guy who has outperformed all expectations to continue. It is extremely difficult for a team like Nottingham to retain a player who is being pursued by the top clubs in Europe.”
Chelsea are reported to have showed their hand by approaching Forest about a potential transfer. Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Manchester United, PSG, Real Madrid, and Barcelona have all been connected, with Atletico Madrid apparently in talks with Murillo’s representatives.
In the same interview, Murillo added of the summer speculation: “We don’t know anything for sure; the window opened last month, so I’ll be returning to Nottingham Forest for pre-season.” There may be some conversations about whether I will stay or not, so there is still a lot to happen, but I am calm.”
