Leeds United return to the Championship this afternoon, hosting Rotherham at Elland Road after winning the FA Cup earlier in the week.
With a 4-1 victory over Plymouth Argyle at Home Park, the Whites advanced to the competition’s next round, where they will face Premier League side Chelsea.
They now return to Yorkshire to face the Millers, who are at the bottom of the table with three wins, as they attempt to improve on their five-game winning streak in the division.
Daniel Farke may now want to make some changes to the starting XI that faced Plymouth, as a number of role players were given an opportunity to shine, and one man who should be freed is Crysencio Summerville.
Jaidon Anthony started the match on the left flank and had a fine, if unspectacular, performance, but should move over to allow one of the club’s best players to return.
Jaidon Anthony’s Performance Against Plymouth
The 24-year-old forward played 82 minutes against Plymouth on Tuesday night, but did not score or assist for his club.
However, the Bournemouth loanee created four chances for his teammates, albeit none of them were ‘big chances’, and completed 100% (2/2) of his dribbling attempts.
This demonstrates that the English whiz showed some good indicators and could be a viable alternative to bring off the bench this afternoon.
Anthony has one goal and zero assists in 21 Championship appearances, two of which came as a starter, since joining Yorkshire last summer.
He has been unfortunate in that Summerville has been in exceptional form this season in his position, which is why the Dutch winger should replace him for the match against Rotherham.
Summerville might scare Rotherham today.
Farke might frighten the Millers by starting the former Feyenoord youth ahead of Anthony, since they have conceded the most goals (54) in the division, and he has the ability to make light work of their defense.
Summerville has been one of the top wingers in the Championship this season, providing a continuous threat as both a scorer and goal creator.
As shown in the table above, the 22-year-old wizard, who has 12 goals and seven assists in 27 league games, scores exceptionally high among his positional counterparts in a variety of key offensive indicators, including goals, assists, and quality of opportunities created.
The Leeds player demonstrated such abilities off the bench against Plymouth on Tuesday, scoring a fantastic goal with his right foot and assisting Georginio Rutter for an extra-time strike.
Phil Hay labeled Summerville as a “nightmare” to play against earlier this week, and his statistics from the Championship and a recent FA Cup match back that up.
Therefore, Farke might frighten Rotherham by unleashing his electric £16k-per-week phenom from the outset to wreak havoc on the fragile Millers defense.
