Controversial Leicester City film from their game against Hull City has leaked, which may have benefited Leeds United significantly.
A video uploaded on Twitter from the Foxes’ 2-2 draw with the Tigers on Saturday (9 March) suggests that Jean Michael Seri should have been sent off for the hosts with around seven minutes of normal time remaining.
The Ivory Coast international stopped Wout Faes’ fast free kick for Leicester from just a few yards away, but the referee chose not to give the midfielder a second yellow card.
That offense has been a yellow-card offense for several years, and the away team’s players were understandably incensed that the 32-year-old did not receive his marching orders at the MKM Stadium.
That would have given them a good chance of winning the game and extending their lead over Leeds to five points.
But that was not the case, as Hull were able to keep all 11 players on the field and limit the Championship leaders to a point.
That decision might be a significant boost to the Whites’ title chances, as they are now hot on the heels of Enzo Maresca’s men, who previously appeared to be on their way to promotion.
After Daniel Farke led his side to another victory over Sheffield Wednesday on Friday (8 March), they are clearly the team to beat right now.
Earlier in the campaign, Leeds faced some unfavorable rulings, but their fortunes are now in their favor.
The German manager will be aware that there is still a long way to go and that there may be many twists and turns over the following few months, but he must be optimistic about their promotion chances at this time.
Leicester has only won one of their last five league games, and Ipswich Town lost 2-1 to Cardiff City on Saturday after conceding two late goals.
That means the Whites have had a wonderful weekend, with their 2-0 win over the Owls putting them back in the automatic promotion places and within touching distance of first place.
It will be an interesting few weeks as the promotion picture is likely to reveal some shocks, but Farke will be pleased with how things are progressing at Elland Road.
