Leeds United are still working hard to make amends for previous mistakes as they strive to avoid relegation to the Championship this season.
Some fresh faces were brought in during the summer transfer window to help the West Yorkshire club reclaim Premier League status after nearly missing out last season.
While their new signings have done an excellent job for Leeds this season, it appears that they might benefit from more firepower up front, particularly in the number nine position.
As a result, it comes as no surprise that Kelechi Iheanacho and Emmanuel Latte Lath are connected with an Elland Road trade [SCORENigeria, 23 January].
Both would be excellent additions to the squad, but Victor Orta’s present position as Sevilla’s sporting director means that he might assist his former club in the market by allowing his move to Daniel Farke’s squad.
Why is Victor Orta involved in the Iheanacho-Leeds United deal?
It’s no secret that Orta’s tenure with the White Sox produced a mixed bag of results.
For example, some of his signings, such as Raphinha, were exceptional, while others fell far short.
Now that the Spaniard has joined Sevilla, he may be able to help his former team by sanctioning the former Manchester City player’s move to West Yorkshire and assisting Leeds in their bid for promotion from the second division.
Of course, it’s a hefty ask, as is any transfer, but if Orta wants to make peace with the supporters and the club, loaning Iheanacho could help.
Only time will tell if a transfer is approved, but if it is, Leeds may become nearly unstoppable and would undoubtedly be on their path to promotion.
