Leeds United fans are right to be upset after the EFL changed the kick-off time for their Championship match against Blackburn Rovers.
The Whites will travel to Ewood Park on Saturday, November 30th, with a 1:30pm start time rather than 3pm.
This was done at the request and intervention of the Lancashire Police, leaving Leeds little choice but to accept.
Supporters are right to be upset with the league organizers for making such a late change after making the schedule available two months ago.
Leeds United fans rightly annoyed with EFL Blackburn Rovers announcement
It is safe to say that this decision from the EFL has not gone down well at Elland Road with the club making a statement in response (19 September).
They said: “The club are frustrated this decision was not taken at an earlier date, which may now inconvenience the travel plans of supporters.
“The club also pushed back on an even earlier kick-off time, whilst ensuring the full away allocation at Ewood Park would be made available.”
This decision has come as a surprise given that fixture dates and times were announced in late July under a television deal with Sky Sports.
As a result, supporters have made plans, whether that be travel or accommodation to attend a 3pm kick-off, which has now been changed with limited notice.
There are going to be up to 7,000 Whites fans travelling to Ewood Park and it feels massively unfair that a change in time has been agreed despite prior assurances that all times until January were set in stone.
If there are concerns now, then surely there concerns when the fixtures were set. Why is it now that his announcement has been made?
There were assurances that fixtures would be locked in place, and those assurances should be upheld.
The club and its supporters have every right to be upset about this decision.
First, Daniel Farke’s side has a trip to Cardiff City to deal with before attention can turn to the clash at Blackburn.
