Jesurun Rak Sakyi Staying at home while Crystal Palace travels to the United States for a pre-season vacation could provide Leeds United with an ideal opportunity to make a loan move.
Journalist Alan Nixon wrote on his Patreon page on Tuesday (30 July) that the Eagles were likely to offer Rak-Sakyi a chance to make the first squad this season after impressing in pre-season.
However, the “surprise development” has called those intentions into question, and an opportunity for interested parties to pounce on the 21-year-old appears to have opened up.
Clubs include the Whites and Championship play-off final winners. Southampton are apparently eager to sign the youthful winger, who is under contract at Selhurst Park for the next four years.
However, with this development indicating that the 21-year-old will be on the move this summer, Daniel Farke’s side risk losing out on his services if they do not make an enquiry in the coming days.
Leeds United has a transfer problem with Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.
Although Nixon’s report indicated that Rak-Sakyi will almost probably play for a different club next season, Southampton is the only club listed as being interested in purchasing the Palace winger [Alan Nixon, 22 July].
That may put the Whites in a difficult position, especially as they currently lack excellent wide players and so would be unable to provide Rak-Sakyi with regular, guaranteed minutes.
Last season, Jaidon Anthony, who arrived on loan from Bournemouth, made only two league starts and was unable to displace Crysencio Summerville, Wilfried Gnonto, or Dan James.
Rak-Sakyi would presumably start in a similar place in the pecking order, with Brenden Aaronson also in the mix, so a move would only make sense if one of the Peacocks’ current wingers left.
However, transfers may go swiftly, and there appears to be an opportunity to bring Rak-Sakyi to Elland Road. Given how highly regarded he is, doing so could prove to be a stroke of genius.
