Leeds United’s Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon may breathe a little easier in their next match against Millwall thanks to an EFL rule.
This season, Ampadu has received eight yellow cards, while Wales international Rodon has seven.
If the pair had accumulated 10 yellow cards, they would have received an immediate ban at a critical juncture in the season for automatic promotion-chasing Leeds.

However, that criterion was passed with the 2-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday on Friday (8 March).
According to FBref, Ampadu and Rodon have received the most yellow cards of any Leeds player this season, with an average of 0.22 per 90 minutes.
For comparison, that is significantly lower than Ben Woodburn, another Welshman, among those who have played more than seven games this season.
Preston forward Woodburn has the highest average in the Championship, with 1.76 yellow cards per 90 minutes.
Thanks to this rule, Ampadu and Rodon will not have to hold back against tough rivals Millwall at Elland Road on Sunday (17 March).
Ethan Ampadu is a crucial player for Leeds United.
A red card will still result in a suspension, but reaching double figures on yellow cards will no longer do so.
Ampadu’s game revolves around breaking up plays, as seen by his team-high 1.4 interceptions per game [WhoScored].
Daniel Farke’s Leeds United return to action against Millwall at Elland Road next Saturday.
Given his role in getting involved, the versatile defender will undoubtedly rack up more bookings, as evidenced by his 1.1 fouls per game.
Rodon leads the way in clearances (4.6 per game), demonstrating his ability to read the threat.
Daniel Farke will not want to be without either of those players between now and the conclusion of the season, and happily, there is less risk of that happening.
