MOT View: Farke regrets missing Leeds transfer target as ‘incredible’ footage emerges

Leeds United endured a tough summer transfer window following numerous high-profile exits at Elland Road.

Daniel Farke lost key players Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, Archie Gray, and Glen Kamara, and while more than £100 million in fees were raised, the quantity of new signings left the manager wanting more.

The Whites finally signed Largie Ramazani, Manor Solomon, Ao Tanaka, and Isaac Schmidt in the final week of the transfer window, but some of the missed opportunities frustrated fans.

Jonathan Rowe was clearly one of those players, having raised some eyebrows at Norwich City before joining Ligue 1 club Marseille.

It is understood that the Whites made two different bids for the player during the window, but neither reached Norwich’s £15 million asking price [HITC].

Leeds United miss out as Jonathan Rowe scores a screamer for Marseille.

The 21-year-old winger has already made an impression in France, scoring a “incredible” winner in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Lyon on Sunday, September 22. He scored in the fifth minute of added time.

Despite missing many games due to injury last season, Rowe was one of the Championship’s most dynamic players, scoring 12 goals and providing two assists for the Canaries.

While he has had minimal playing time since transferring to Ligue 1, and has yet to make a start for Marseille, Rowe’s brilliance and skill are still on display for the world to witness following his stunning performance against Lyon.

Of sure, Ramazani and Solomon have been valuable acquisitions, but neither is on the same level as Summerville. That is not to claim Rowe is, but Farke could have transformed him into a different animal at Elland Road.

Unfortunately, the Whites will never know what could have been, as they elected not to pay the needed fee to bring the 21-year-old winger to West Yorkshire.
