MOT View: Farke must axe ‘Slow’ Leeds ace v Cardiff City, after he was at fault against Burnley

Daniel Farke may have no choice but to remove Jayden Bogle from Leeds United’s starting lineup against Cardiff City on Saturday (September 21).

The 24-year-old has earned mixed reviews since joining from Sheffield United for £5 million this summer [Yorkshire Evening Post], and Farke is desperate to find backup for Archie Gray.

His performance in the 1-0 loss to Burnley was clearly not his best in a Leeds shirt, with critics pointing to his “slow” reflexes in failing to stop Luca Koleosho from opening the score [Sunday Mirror].

Following Manor Solomon’s unlucky mistake at Elland Road, the Clarets were given a wonderful opportunity to smash the ball past Illan Meslier, especially because Bogle failed to close down the attacker.

With Sam Byram capable of deputising on either wing, Farke faces a difficult decision before facing bottom-of-the-league Cardiff, who have yet to win a single game this season.

Daniel Farke to drop Jayden Bogle in Leeds United’s game against Cardiff City?

Farke is already under pressure at Elland Road as the Whites seek Premier League promotion, with Graham Smyth admitting the manager’s position does not feel “as certain as it once did” [Yorkshire Evening Post].

With this in mind, the German may decide to shake things up against Cardiff, potentially removing Bogle from the starting lineup.

Leeds are presently three points outside of the Championship play-off spots after five games, with a five-point margin separating them from West Brom at the top of the league.

A loss to the league’s worst-performing team would not only send Leeds further away from the crown, but it would also add to the strain Farke is already under at Elland Road.
