Daniel Farke nearly has too many attacking weapons at his disposal as Leeds United seeks promotion back to the Premier League.
With 60 goals in 30 matches, no other Championship side has scored more this season, putting them ahead of Sheffield United, Burnley, and Sunderland.
Joel Piroe leads the way with 12 goals and five assists, followed by Brenden Aaronson and Dan James, who each have eight goals.
Manor Solomon and Wilfried Gnonto are both establishing their worth off the bench, while Largie Ramazani has four league goals since joining from Almeria in the summer.
However, with the amount of excellent forwards vying for a place in Farke’s starting lineup, there will undoubtedly be some discontent among the goals.
Gnonto, who has already thrown his toys out the pram, is unlikely to be satisfied with sitting on the bench on a regular basis, having started none of the last six league games.
He was not even used as a substitute in two of those matches, both of which Leeds lost: the 3-3 draw with Hull City and the monotonous 0-0 stalemate with Burnley.
Wilfried Gnonto is clearly dissatisfied with Leeds United’s role.
Gnonto was the team’s top option at the start of the season, scoring six goals in the first nine games, but his performance has deteriorated since.
He has been given less and less time on the pitch, gradually being pushed into a substitute role by the manager, and some fans will be concerned that another transfer request will be submitted at Elland Road.
When Everton came calling for his signature in the summer of 2023, his 19-year-old self lobbied for a move away from Yorkshire [BBC Sport], but the youngster’s transfer never materialized.
The 21-year-old has made amazing progress since then, becoming a popular figure at Elland Road and growing significantly more mature, yet the same concern remains.
As a youthful and talented attacker, Gnonto will be keen to get on the field and be the player who propels the Whites to promotion, but Farke plainly has other plans.
The issue has raised a few eyebrows among fans, and some are concerned that Gnonto may submit another transfer request despite having recently signed a new deal.
