David Prutton has predicted the result of Leeds United’s Championship match against Stoke City on Tuesday (5 March).
On Saturday (2 March), the Whites were held to a 1-1 draw with 10-man Huddersfield Town, ending their nine-match winning streak in the Championship.
Stoke turned a corner in their most recent game, defeating Middlesbrough 2-0, and will be looking to widen the six-point buffer between themselves and the relegation zone.
Prutton believes Leeds will win again, this time by 2-0.
Prutton predicted the result via Sky Sports on Monday (4 March): “The winning run wasn’t going to last forever, but Leeds will still be disappointed they couldn’t see off a Huddersfield side reduced to ten with more than half the game remaining.”
“They have shifted the momentum slightly back to Ipswich. However, there will be more twists to come.
“Stoke secured a much-needed win over Middlesbrough at the weekend and may move out of the bottom three with a result on Tuesday night. But I still don’t see them getting anything at Elland Road.
“Prediction: 2-0.”
Can Leeds United return to winning ways against Stoke City?
Leeds could be in for a shock against the Potters, as the Whites have won three of the last six games, while Stoke have won two, including a 2-2 tie in the EFL Cup in 2019.
Despite their FA Cup loss to Chelsea and 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town, Daniel Farke’s team is currently in good form. They have not lost a league game since a 1-0 defeat to West Brom on December 29.
The Whites will be anxious to exact retribution after failing to secure all three points against the Terriers, despite Jonathan Hogg getting sent off in the first half.
The draw allowed Ipswich Town to reclaim second position in the Championship, leapfrogging Leeds, but Leicester City also slid up, losing their third consecutive league game to QPR.
With Leicester facing Sunderland at the Stadium of Light next and Ipswich hosting Bristol City, Leeds may narrow the margin at the top of the table even further to just two points.
Patrick Bamford, Georginio Rutter, Crysencio Summerville, Joel Piroe, Wilfried Gnonto, and Dan James will all need to be on their game against Stoke if the Whites are to put additional pressure on Leicester and Ipswich.
