Micah Richards and Gary Lineker have both addressed whether Leeds United can still finish second in the Championship following last Friday’s 2-0 loss to QPR.
Going into last Friday’s game, Leeds had the opportunity to put pressure on Ipswich Town. The chance to go four points ahead of Kieran McKenna’s team at Loftus Road with a win over relegation-threatened QPR.
However, in an unusual turn of events, Marti Cifuentes’ team achieved possibly the best result of the season, defeating Daniel Farke’s men 4-0. Leeds appeared fatigued and unable to handle the burden of promotion.

Both Richards and Lineker believe that second place is no longer within reach for the Yorkshire club. This is what they stated.
In regards to Leeds’ chances of finishing second, Lineker expressed compassion for the Whites, citing his own experience with Leicester. You have to return to the Premier League, and Ipswich are now favourites to accomplish so.
“Leeds appear to be on track to make the playoffs. “Micah’s head slumps to the ground,” he said. Richards said, “I don’t want playoffs.” Anything can happen during the playoffs. It is devastating. “So close, yet so far.”
Do Leeds have any chance of finishing second?
All eyes are on Tuesday night when McKenna’s Ipswich face Coventry away from home. If Ipswich avoid defeat, they will pass Leeds for second place heading into the final weekend of the Championship season.
But if Ipswich wins or draws, they will overtake Leeds. Coventry are a good team, but they have nothing to play for since the play-offs are out of reach. But they shown that they can push anyone to their limits, just ask Manchester United.
In the opposite matchup, Ipswich overcame Coventry 2-1 at Portman Road. There is a chance Mark Robins’ squad will win. If that’s the case, Leeds must beat Southampton on Saturday at Elland Road.
