    Men’s Basketball Ranked No. 23 In USA Today Coaches Poll

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. –  The Providence College men’s basketball team is ranked No. 23 in the most recent USA Today Coaches Poll, which was released today (January 2).  The Friars also are ranked No. 23 in the Associated Press Poll, which was released on January 1.  Last week, the Friars debuted in both the Associated Press and the USA Today Coaches polls at No. 25.  By entering the rankings last week, Providence now has been ranked at least one week for three consecutive seasons for the first time since 1976-78.

    The Friars have been idle since defeating Butler, 85-75, in overtime on December 23.  The Friars (11-2, 2-0) have won four straight games and are in first place in the BIG EAST.  Providence has posted a 3-2 mark in Quad 1 and Quad 2 games with wins over Marquette, Wisconsin, and Butler.

    The Friars will return to action versus Seton Hall on Wednesday, January 3 at 6:30 p.m. on FS1.
