Besiktas has won the race to sign Nottingham Forest centre-back Joe Worrall, despite interest from Leeds United.
According to The Athletic (4 February), the defender will undergo a physical before joining the Turkish club on loan for the remainder of the season.
On transfer Deadline Day, both Sheffield United and the Whites extended loan proposals to the 27-year-old [TEAMtalk, 1 February].
Leeds United miss out on Worrall.
Leeds manager Daniel Farke appears to have been looking to improve the centre of his defence during the winter transfer window.
However, a move for Forest captain Worrall did not materialize, with the experienced defender instead opting for a transfer to Turkey.
The Whites were likely ignored, as were Bournemouth winger David Brooks and Sint-Truiden right-back Daiki Hashioka.
Farke will not be too frustrated with those transfer failures, as the Whites continue to strengthen with the loan signing of Connor Roberts from Burnley.
Furthermore, his side is already performing well in the Championship this season, with the Elland Road club presently third in the table.
They are now just one point behind Southampton in second place, with league leaders Leicester City still 12 points ahead of the Whites and 11 ahead of the Saints.
Leeds United is flying high under Farke.
However, with five wins in their previous five games, Leeds are the Championship’s in-form team, and the club hopes to maintain that momentum in the coming weeks.
