According to Football Insider, Leeds United has lost out to Marseille in the hunt to sign Norwich City winger Jonathan Rowe, who is scheduled to have a physical on Thursday.

The French club has agreed to sign the 21-year-old on an initial loan with a buyout clause for a cost of £14 million plus bonuses.

Rowe, 21, a former Norwich young player who has made 56 professional appearances and scored 13 goals since 2021, has agreed to terms with Marseille.

Leeds made a verbal approach of £7 million for the forward, but it was rejected by Norwich.

According to Football Insider (August 20), Leeds United have shifted their focus to Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo as they want to add to their squad for the long Championship season.

Leeds United miss out on Jonathan Rowe.

Leeds currently has the Championship’s smallest squad and has made more in player sales than any other club in England, totaling £138 million.

After several high-profile departures, including Georginio Rutter’s £40 million move to Brighton, the West Yorkshire club has only managed to bring in two players.

The ex-Premier League club have also missed out on a deal for Bashir Humphreys with the young defender choosing Burnley over them.

According to Football Insider (August 19), Burnley beat Leeds United to the loan signing of Chelsea’s Humphreys.
