According to Football Insider, Alex Moreno will have a medical at Nottingham Forest on Wednesday after agreeing to a loan deal.

Aston Villa accepted Forest’s offer of a season-long loan with an obligation to buy for the 31-year-old.

According to Football Insider (August 18), Forest were competing with Spanish clubs Villarreal, Sevilla, and Valencia for Moreno’s signature as the window approached its last two weeks.

Unai Emery and his staff felt Moreno surplus to needs following the £37.5 million arrival of Ian Maatsen, 22, from Chelsea during this transfer window.

Alex Moreno chooses Nottingham Forest over Spain recall.

Since joining Villa from Spanish club Real Betis in January 2023, Moreno has made 48 appearances and scored three goals in the Champions League.

Last season, Emery alternated his left-backs; Moreno appeared 29 times, while Frenchman Lucas Digne played 46 games.

Nottingham Forest have had a busy transfer window as they want to improve on last season’s 17th-place finish.

Football Insider also disclosed (August 20) that Nottingham Forest has presented a detailed proposition to Eddie Nketiah in an attempt to persuade him to sign as they seek a new striker.
