Leeds United were thrashed 4-0 by QPR on Friday night, reducing their chances of automatic promotion dramatically, but Ipswich Town have yet to capitalise.
Leeds has only one game remaining in the regular season, but many fans have come to accept the possibility of the campaign stretching into the playoffs.
That comes following a 4-0 defeat away to bottom-half QPR on Friday night, leaving Ipswich Town just two games to make up and seize second place with only this weekend remaining.

A ray of hope for Leeds came in the form of Ipswich’s two games to catch up to 45 played against teams that were more than capable of defeating them.
The first was a trip to the MKM Stadium to face Liam Rosenior’s Hull City, who needed to win their remaining games by a large margin to be in contention for the top six spots.
Leeds remain in the top two after a 3-3 draw, with Kieran McKenna’s team facing another difficult away journey against Coventry City on Tuesday night.

The Tractor Boys suffered a setback when Leif Davis was forced to leave in the second half due to an ankle injury.
Davis, of course, has arguably been Ipswich’s finest player and most valuable outlet this season, with an impressive 18 league assists, and McKenna was unable to provide a positive update after injuring his ankle, according to the East Anglian Daily Times:
“He’s limping quite heavily. He rolled his ankle.
“This is a problem he’s experienced before. We’ll need to assess him over the following three days.”
Davis’ departure might be big for Leeds.
When you watch Ipswich play, you can see how significant Davis’ delivery from the left flank is, as he has contributed 20 of their league goals this season.
Having him out for tomorrow and possibly even the weekend could jeopardize their ability to perform at their best.
We’ve been extremely awful, so expecting a win against Southampton is unrealistic, but knowing Davis may be out is a huge boost.
