Crystal Palace’s asking price for centre-back Marc Guehi is too high for Liverpool, according to Football Insider.
The Reds have long admired the 24-year-old and continue to look for a new left-sided defender.
Newcastle United have made the initial approach for Guehi in their bid to secure him before the 30 August transfer deadline.
It is understood the Magpies want to make a statement of determination by bringing the England international to St James’ Park.
On Saturday (3 August), Football Insider revealed that
Crystal Palace has informed Newcastle that they want an initial fee of £50 million for Guehi, which will be supplemented by add-ons.
Liverpool priced out of a deal for Newcastle’s primary target, Guehi.
According to sources, Liverpool and Manchester United, who have long been interested in the former Chelsea star, are unlikely to fulfill such demands throughout the remainder of the summer window.
Guehi’s value has increased as a result of a succession of outstanding performances for England, who were beaten in the Euro 2024 final.
He made six starts for the Three Lions during the competition.
Last season, the 24-year-old appeared 29 times in all competitions for Palace, captaining the team while he was fit.
Guehi is under contract at Selhurst Park until June 2026, having joined from Chelsea three years ago.
