Casemiro and Victor Lindelof were hurt during Manchester United’s 2-1 Premier League defeat to Fulham on Saturday.
Casemiro and Victor Lindelof are both available for Manchester United’s FA Cup fifth-round clash against Nottingham Forest.
Lindelof hobbled out shortly before full-time in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Fulham, while Casemiro was taken off in the 52nd minute due to a head injury. United manager Erik ten Hag emphasized that Casemiro was not concussed.
“It was a bleeding, so he had to come off,” the doctor stated. “It was definitely not in our advantage that he couldn’t continue the game but he is available for tomorrow.”
Ten Hag claimed there was an overreaction to United’s first defeat of the year. A draw against a depleted Tottenham was split by FA Cup victories against League One Wigan Athletic and League Two Newport County in January, before United won their first four Premier League games in February.
United face Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup fifth round on Wednesday night, in what remains their sole chance of silverware this season.
“When you are unbeaten for January and February and you lose one game – we know our aim is to win every game, that’s United,” he said. “Clearly, it was a horrible effort for a defeat, and we are aware of this.
“We want to stay in every competition, so we must win tomorrow.” It makes no difference to our approach, which is the same for every game.”
Ten Hag was hesitant to discuss his future at United, given that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos team are in charge of the club’s football operations. Ten Hag’s future is unknown, since United currently sit sixth in the Premier League league, eight points behind the fourth Champions League qualifying spot.
“I know the future,” Ten Hag emphasized. “But I also have to look at today, and we need to focus on the team’s development and improvement, as well as, of course, winning every game. That is what we’re doing. Today requires a significant amount of effort. But we also look forward to the long term.”
