The January transfer market has opened, giving Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur the chance to finally add players.

Tottenham has been unable to use the majority of its key defenders for significant portions of the season due to a protracted injury crisis at the back.

Similarly, Rodri, John Stones, and Ruben Dias are among the important players that are now out for Manchester City due to injuries.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Man City has joined Tottenham and other major teams in their pursuit of “one of the best” young defenders available.

In the race for Abdukodir Khusanov, Manchester City joins Tottenham and other teams.
Man City has added Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov to their January transfer wish list, according to Romano on X.

A number of elite teams are interested in the Uzbek international, who is considered “one of the best talents in his position,” according to the transfer insider.

Graeme Bailey, the head correspondent for TBR Football, had stated that Khusanov is being discussed by Tottenham and Newcastle.

Khusanov has also been viewed this season by teams like Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Brentford, Brighton, and West Ham.

There is interest from the continent, too, with Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, Napoli, Atalanta and Marseille reportedly keeping eyes on the 20-year-old.

The exciting things that have been said about Khusanov

Any club that signs the £20 million-rated Khusanov would be getting one of the best center-backs in the French top flight. In January, the Ligue 1 website stated: “The calm defender almost never gets caught off guard by opposing attackers, and he has added another asset to his game: anticipation.” “Often well placed, he is the player who has made the most interceptions since the start of the season in the championship (17), tied with Parisian Willian Pacho and Pierre-Emile Hojberg of Marseille.”

In the meanwhile, the website quotes Lens head coach Will Still as saying: “He’s calm, powerful, and speedy. He’s good, but he doesn’t talk.

“When I arrived, with the departure of “Kev’” in sight, Jean-Louis Leca (sports coordinator) told me ‘don’t worry, there’s “Kodir” who is here, and he’s ready.’

“He was not mistaken. He has really, really amazing potential.

Bryce Samba is quoted as saying about his teammate following a 0-0 tie with Nice in September: “He’s a monster, what he did again tonight… I’m afraid of him. Really, no! For his age, what he does…”
