Real Betis wants to sign Leeds United defender Diego Llorente as soon as possible, according to Diario AS.
According to a Spanish news outlet (5 July), Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini wants the 30-year-old signed before the club flies to Austria for a pre-season training camp next Wednesday (10 July).
Betis’ interest in Llorente remains, as they seek to reach an agreement with Leeds United.
The Whites turned down the La Liga club’s first offer while negotiations continued.
Will Real Betis sign Diego Llorente from Leeds United?
There is no reason why the two teams cannot agree on this transaction.
Llorente has no future at Elland Road with Daniel Farke. He has spent the last 18 months on loan with Roma in Italy, but the Serie A club elected not to exercise their buy-option for the Spaniard.
As a result, Llorente is left in limbo, uncertain of his future. It makes sense for him to return to his homeland and reconnect with Marc Roca at Betis.
However, according to Adam Pope via X (3 July), the Whites rejected Betis’ original approach for Llorente because it did not meet the club’s requirements.
Nonetheless, negotiations appear to be ongoing, and there is hope that an agreement can be achieved between the two sides.
There is little point in Llorente staying at Elland Road.
As a result, everyone involved will be hoping to reach an agreement soon.
