Latest Nottingham Forest news from NottinghamshireLive: USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter discusses Gio Reyna.

USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter has commented on Gio Reyna’s lack of playing time at Nottingham Forest.

Reyna has yet to start a match for the Reds since joining on loan from Borussia Dortmund at the end of January. He has only made three substitute appearances in the Premier League, against Bournemouth, Newcastle United, and Aston Villa.

He has only played 38 minutes for Forest in three substitute appearances. He also appeared as an 89th-minute substitute in Liverpool’s FA Cup defeat to Manchester United.

The 21-year-old midfielder was anticipated to play a far larger role at Forest as they battled to stay in the Premier League. And Berhalter has spoken about his circumstances ahead of the CONCACAF Nations League semi-finals in March.

“We understand Gio is a creative player. “We know he’s an excellent player for the final pass,” Berhalter told The Athletic. “And you know, we have to see what he can do in terms of workload, how long he could last in the field because he hasn’t been playing, but we also see other options as well.”
