Nottingham Forest have made significant progress on the pitch this season, sitting third in the Premier League rankings.
The Reds advanced to the fifth round of the FA Cup Wednesday night. Forest beat Exeter at St James’ Park, but it took a penalty shootout to defeat the League One opponents.
Still, a win is a win. Forest will now try to recuperate swiftly ahead of a crucial encounter against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday, with three more vital points at stake.
Evangelos Marinakis was anxious for a striker in January. Forest’s failure to obtain one, combined with Taiwo Awoniyi’s fractured nose last night, will have disappointed the owner.
Things might be going well on the pitch but now there has been a development away from it too. It would appear as though Marinakis is leaving no stone unturned in a quest to make Forest an established Premier League club.
Major change made by Evangelos Marinakis at Nottingham Forest
It’s not uncommon but Forest have allowed another board member to leave his position with Marinakis seemingly wielding the axe once again.
Martyn Ziegler of The Times has claimed that shareholder Sokratis Kominakis has been stood down as per the latest Companies House filing released today.
Kominakis was part of the consortium that purchased the football club alongside Marinakis but now it appears that he’s gone in a different direction.
In July, Kominakis sparked a stir among Forest fans when he donated £100,000 to the Conservative Party while Rishi Sunak was still Prime Minister.
This move is intriguing. Marinakis has a long working history with Kominakis, and it’s unclear why he left the club.
Nottingham Forest Football Club board of directors
Since taking control Nottingham Forest Football Club in 2017, Marinakis has made changes to the board of directors, and this newest action may lead to another appointment.
The Greek billionaire understands what he’s doing when it comes to running a football team, but something must have transpired to cause Kominakis to walk away.
