Loic Bade is currently a key character at Spanish club Sevilla, but it’s easy to forget that he once played for Nottingham Forest.
He joined the team on loan from Rennes in the 2022/23 season, however his loan was cut short in January 2023 when he joined Sevilla before signing permanently in the summer of 2023.
The Frenchman has now spoken about his departure from Nottingham Forest and how the transfer to Sevilla came about.
In an interview with Mediaset El Desmarque, as reported by Estadio Deportivo, the defender confessed that he accepted a significant wage reduction to join the La Liga club.
“When I signed here, I significantly reduced my contract because I came from Nottingham, where I didn’t play. I reduced my contract significantly to come [here].”
Bade also revealed that he had a key chat with Sevilla sporting director Victor Orta, who persuaded him to stay following an initial loan period.
“Of course, I told Victor that I feel great here. I’ve changed clubs several times in my brief career, and I wanted to keep doing so since this is a location where I feel quite comfortable.”
Despite having established himself in France, the centre-back had not played a single game for Nottingham Forest.
He may have deserved more in the Premier League, and he has played 66 games for Sevilla since arriving, which is one of the reasons he enjoys life in Spain.
