Lloyd Kelly has been to Italy for a medical ahead of his departure from Newcastle United.
Lloyd Kelly, who has only been at Newcastle United for a few months, is ready to quit the club for a transfer to Serie A.
Despite working well together while at Bournemouth, the 26-year-old has yet to make an impact in Eddie Howe’s side.
Newcastle are expected to get roughly £20 million from the sale in the summer. Kelly is taking out an initial loan with an obligation to buy.
Kelly was willing to joining Juventus despite having played only four minutes of Premier League football since November. Howe did not want Kelly to leave and admitted that, despite his limited playing time, he was a ‘integral’ member of Newcastle’s first-team squad.
As Kelly prepares for his huge departure abroad, fans realize how serious the club’s PSR issues are.
Lloyd Kelly’s Newcastle United salaries disclosed
Newcastle’s £20 million transfer fee is already a significant boost to their summer plans. Newcastle will also have a significant portion of its wage bill freed up if Kelly departs.
According to the Daily Mail, Kelly earns a stunning £100,000-a-week at Newcastle, which equates to £5.2 million per year.
Kelly signed a five-year contract with Newcastle, which would have paid him a remarkable £26 million if he had stayed the entire time.
Newcastle are also aiming to sign players to long-term contracts and bring in new players.
Alexander Isak is scheduled for new contract talks at the end of the season, and it is thought that he will become the club’s highest earner, so any additional cash obtained for that agreement are a significant bonus.
Newcastle sold Miguel Almiron to Atlanta United, freeing up a major portion of their pay expenditure. The club will be in a lot better position to offer higher contracts to top players in the coming months.
Newcastle United are likely to invest in the summer.
With Newcastle set to receive £30 million from the Kelly and Almiron deals, sporting director Paul Mitchell will be in a strong position to improve the squad for Howe this summer.
Work on moves for the summer has already begun. Newcastle are in pre-contract talks with Antonio Cordero, who plays for Malaga in La Liga 2. Despite the Spanish club’s mid-table position, the 18-year-old has scored 10 goals in 23 games this season.
Newcastle has also made significant efforts in terms of youth development. Baran Yildiz will leave Genclerbirligi to join Newcastle soon. The 18-year-old midfielder has yet to make his professional debut, but Mitchell is thought to be a great fan of his.
Newcastle have already announced the signing of 17-year-old Vahktang Salia from Dinamo Tbilisi. He’ll join the club in August, when he turns 18.
