The latest Liverpool transfer gossip ahead of the summer transfer window: Ademola Lookman aims a return to the Premier League, while Frenkie de Jong might be on the move.

Liverpool has discussed a possible summer move for Ademola Lookman. The 27-year-old was already expected to leave Atalanta this summer after three seasons, and the possibility of his departure increased last week after he was publicly chastised by Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini.

Lookman missed a penalty in Atalanta’s Champions League defeat to Club Brugge, and Gasperini remarked after the game that the former Everton player should not have stepped up from 12 yards since he was “one of the worst penalty takers” he had ever seen.

According to CaughtOffside, Lookman has admirers at a number of prominent European clubs, with Liverpool and Arsenal showing a stronger interest than the other teams.

Manchester United, Chelsea, and Juventus have all been linked with Lookman, while Atalanta is reportedly seeking a sum of $63 million to $68 million for the attacker.

Lookman has plenty of experience playing in England, having started at Charlton Athletic and gone on to play for Everton, Fulham, and Leicester, but it is at Atalanta that he has shown by far his greatest form.

    Barcelona could sell De Jong.

Meanwhile, TBR Football reports that intermediaries have contacted Premier League clubs to gauge interest in Barcelona player Frenkie de Jong.

De Jong has found himself out of the Barcelona lineup under Hansi Flick at times this season, and while he remains an important member of the Blaugrana squad, his high salaries may see the Catalan club want to offload him in the summer as it looks to improve its finances.

Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Manchester City have all been mentioned as potential destinations for De Jong, with the Reds reportedly considering him as a replacement for Martin Zubimendi.

Liverpool targeted Zubimendi as its primary goal during last summer’s transfer window and remains a fan of the Real Sociedad midfielder, although it was rumored earlier this season that the 26-year-old is now expected to join Arsenal this summer.
