Liverpool have reached an agreement and will now lose Marcelo Pitaluga. The Brazilian has been with the Reds since 2020.
Marcelo Pitaluga, a Brazilian goalkeeper, is leaving Liverpool. Pitaluga entered in 2020 as a highly regarded talent who was continually on the verge of joining the main squad.
However, it has never worked out. Pitaluga has instead gone on multiple loans, the most recent of which is with Scottish club Livingston.
He’s struggled to break into the first-team setup this season, therefore his loan will be cut short. According to Globo, Liverpool has reached an agreement with Fluminense to bring Pitaluga on board immediately.
It’s also an interesting deal. There is no transfer fee, and Pitaluga’s rights will be shared between the two clubs.
Liverpool retains 40% of them, but Fluminense gains 60%. Essentially, anyone who wishes to purchase Pitaluga in the future must compensate the Reds for their portion.
A £10 million valuation down the line? Well, Liverpool is owed £4 million of that.
Liverpool’s active transfer window.
Naturally, Liverpool made an offer for Trent Alexander-Arnold at the end of 2024. Real Madrid want to buy him and thought £10 million would entice the Reds.
It did not.
And Friday has been a busy day. Crystal Palace offered £15 million for Ben Doak, and Ipswich followed with £16 million.
However, Liverpool turned down those bids as well. They want £30 million for Doak and will hold out until they get it.
Pitaluga is the only one they have accepted an offer for. The transfer window at Anfield, however, is far from done, and everyone should brace themselves for additional proposals.
