Latest Liverpool news and gossip, as RB Leipzig sensation Dani Olmo remains mentioned as a potential target for the Reds this summer.
Liverpool is still rumored to be interested in signing RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmos.
The Reds have yet to make any fresh acquisitions ahead of Arne Slot’s first season as head coach. Slot will officially take over at Anfield on June 1, replacing Jurgen Klopp in the dugout on Merseyside.
Several prospective new arrivals have already been linked to Liverpool this summer. Olmo is one of the players whose name has been circulating around the Reds rumour mill in recent weeks.
According to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and Manchester United have all expressed interest in signing Olmo. The story goes on to state that the Reds have already expressed interest in signing the Spain international this summer.
Olmo is under contract with Leipzig until 2027, having signed a four-year deal before the start of the season. The 26-year-old joined the Bundesliga club from Dinamo Zagreb in 2020, having previously attended Barcelona’s renowned La Masia academy during his teenage career.
Olmo’s contract with Leipzig reportedly has a €60 million (£51 million) release clause. However, some reports claim that the provision may have a July 15 deadline this year, prompting interested clubs to act.
Barcelona has also been connected with signing Olmo, a decade after he left the club to join Dinamo Zagreb. The playmaker, who led Leipzig with eight goals and five assists this season, will represent Spain in the European Championships this summer.
It remains to be seen whether Leipzig and Olmo want to make a decision on his future before or after the summer competition. Liverpool will begin their preseason training in July, with Slot facing Real Betis, Arsenal, and Manchester United in the United States.
