Thiago Alcantara appears to be entering his final season at Liverpool Football Club.
The Premier League club’s decision-makers apparently decided enough is enough, and the Spaniard will be free to leave when his contract ends at the end of the current season.
According to Football Insider, the Reds have’moved on’ from the former Barcelona technician due to his ongoing injury issues.
A terrible final season for Thiago.
This was not supposed to be the end of our connection with the outstanding 33-year-old midfielder (who Tyler Morton described as ‘unreal’ to practice with on The Boot Room).
When the 29-year-old arrived from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2020, there was a lot of excitement about the talent he would bring to the group.
We can’t deny that there were plenty of glimpses of brilliance throughout his time at Anfield. Who will forget the gravity-defying daisycutter versus FC Porto? Or his dominating performance against arch rivals Manchester United?
However, we must accept some responsibility for hurrying back a player who was plainly not entirely prepared to face the demands of competitive football.
This season, he only appeared for five minutes in a 3-1 loss to Arsenal, which was not what we expected.
What a shame Thiago Alcantara will be leaving Liverpool.
