Latest Liverpool transfer news and speculation, including updates on Alexis MacAllister’s fitness and Cesar Huerta’s deal to the Reds collapsed.
Liverpool had an excellent start to the Premier League season. The Reds are second behind Manchester City, having won their first three games without allowing a single goal.
Liverpool return to action after the international break, hosting Nottingham Forest. On September 14, Liverpool will host the East Midlands team at Anfield. It’s an opportunity for the Reds to maintain their perfect start to the season and maintain the positive vibe under Arne Slot, who has managed to set his team fire.
The Reds, like many other Premier League clubs, have several players flying around the world to join their different national teams this month. Slot will be hoping that none of his players return with injuries or fitness problems ahead of a difficult stretch leading up to the next international break.

MacAllister’s injury is in doubt
Alexis MacAllister is suffering from an adductor injury after being replaced in Argentina’s 3-0 victory over Chile early Friday morning. The Liverpool midfielder opened the goal for the World Champions before being replaced in the 79th minute.
He was an injury doubt heading into the game, with manager Lionel Scaloni saying that Argentina needed to assess him after the 25-year-old missed training earlier in the week while reporting for international duty.
“Alexis didn’t train because he was overloaded, and he was in pain,” Scaloni said. “It always happens to us, they come out to do their part.”
Huerta’s agent speaks up.
Cesar Huerta’s agent has revealed why his proposed move to Liverpool did not go through this summer. The Reds reportedly made a late play for the Pumas forward, who scored 12 goals in 40 games during the 2023/24 season.
According to reports, Liverpool intended to buy him before sending him on loan to Sunderland. However, the Black Cats are alleged to have denied their half of the deal, and the proposed move fell through.
Now, his agent, Gabriel Moraes, has spoken with Jovenes Futbolistas MX about the failed trade. “The quality of the other options was not strong enough for Huerta to grow, to be a Liverpool player in 2025,” Moraes tells me.
“That was the objective, and Liverpool only wanted England and could not legally loan another Premier League player. Not all teams need the position or could guarantee minutes in the 2024-2025 season. He [Huerta] deserved better, but that’s how life goes sometimes.
