Lewis O’Brien to Leeds: O’Rourke Shares Transfer Update

According to Football Insider, Leeds United could be among the several clubs interested in signing Lewis O’Brien in the January transfer window.

Speaking on the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior writer Pete O’Rourke stated that the central midfielder has been on Leeds’ radar for several years.

The Yorkshire giants tried to sign him some years ago while he was playing for Huddersfield Town because Marcelo Bielsa was a fan of his, and the club came “very close” to making a deal.

The Whites were unable to complete a deal for the midfielder at the time, but they may return to him in the coming transfer window.

O’Brien is currently on loan in the MLA with LA FC, however his contract will expire in December and he will return to Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder was judged surplus to requirements at Forest, and other clubs are interested in signing him whenever he returns.

Lewis O’Brien might strengthen Leeds United’s midfield.

O’Brien has thrived for LA FC, making 15 games and scoring once while providing one assist.

Leeds could look to him to add depth to their central midfield options in the second half of the season.

Daniel Farke’s midfield has been stretched this season due to knee injuries sustained by Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev, who are not scheduled to return until the turn of the year.

Adding an experienced midfielder like O’Brien to the squad would add depth to that part of the game as the Yorkshire giants continue to strive for promotion.

O’Brien has made 146 Championship matches in his career, scoring eight goals and supplying 11 assists.
