Chris Wood lamented Michael Salisbury’s decision not to send out Jakub Moder as Nottingham Forest lost 1-0 at Brighton.
The striker spoke to BBC Sport following today’s defeat.
So, what did Wood say regarding the catastrophic incident that affected Forest this afternoon? Let’s look more closely.
What Chris Wood said regarding the referee during the Nottingham Forest game
Well, Forest appears to have been completely sewn up again today.
Moder’s challenge was truly vile, and if Neco Williams’ left had been planted, the outcome could have been extremely ugly.
The incident occurred in the second half, and following a lengthy VAR review, it was determined that a yellow card was adequate.
Wood wasn’t impressed after the final whistle, but he believes Forest should focus on what they can control.
He told BBC Sport: “I haven’t seen it back so I can’t say too much, but from my position on the pitch, it looked like he connected quite well, to put it that way.
“If the referee had called red, it would not have been overturned. We must control what we can control; we cannot control referees. “We haven’t had much luck with referees this season.”
VAR is horrible, and Forest will regret it this season.
It’s devolving into a joke, and Forest is sick and tired of hearing the same things week after week.
Clearly, Forest must get their own house in order, but the team should have played about 25 minutes against 10 men.
Moder’s challenge on Williams was a disgrace, and the fact that someone watched it back and didn’t give it a red card was insane.
Forest failed to score against Brighton today, making for another unpleasant day.
The Reds now face Luton away, a game Forest cannot afford to lose next Saturday.
