Les Dennis complains about BBC commentary in Leeds’ win over Plymouth following what Joel Piroe did

Les Dennis criticized the BBC’s coverage of Leeds United’s FA Cup meeting with Plymouth on Tuesday (6 February).

Dennis objected after announcer Jonathan Pearce stated that Joel Piroe hit the “woodwork” when his first-half shot struck the crossbar.

During the match at Home Park, the Whites forward came close to breaking the tie with a shot from just beyond the box.

Dennis complained about Pearce’s phrasing on X, writing, “Why do football commentators still say ‘hit the woodwork?’ Please let me know whether it is the post or the crossbar. “Moan over.”

Leeds United ace Piroe is in the midst of it.

Piroe was there in the midst of the action against Plymouth, both in terms of performance and because his first-half strike elicited a quick response from Dennis.

The Whites’ forward came so close to putting his team ahead in the fourth round rematch, which was played after the two clubs drew 1-1 at Elland Road in their first meeting last month.

Willy Gnonto opened the goal shortly after the hour mark, but Brendan Galloway levelled for the hosts 12 minutes later.

After a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes, the Whites won 4-1 in extra time thanks to goals from Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter, as well as an own goal from Ryan Hardie.

Daniel Farke and his men’ hard-fought victory now sets up a mouth-watering fifth-round match against either Chelsea or Aston Villa.

The two Premier League clubs will face off at Villa Park on Wednesday (6 February), following a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge last month.
