Leeds United apparently wanted to include Tottenham’s Oliver Skipp in the deal that sent Archie Gray to North London, but he is now a target for Leicester City.
Following the departures of Archie Gray and Glen Kamara, the Whites plan to invest in midfield this month.
Joe Rothwell has joined, but the club presently has three senior midfielders on its books, with Charlie Crew looking to break through.
Leeds previously attempted to sign Oliver Skipp in Archie Gray discussions.
As Leeds were in talks with Tottenham over the transfer of Archie Gray at the end of June, the club sought to attract players from the opposite direction.
Of course, Joe Rodon re-signed with the club for £10 million, but Football.london reported that Leeds sought to include Oliver Skipp in the deal as well.
Spurs appeared to pass on that opportunity, as Daniel Farke was undoubtedly eager to rejoin with a top midfielder from his time at Norwich City in 20/21.
According to Football Insider, freshly promoted Leicester City are looking to sign Oliver Skipp this summer, following interest from Leeds.
Steve Cooper’s team is searching for more in the middle of the park after standout player Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall moved to Chelsea.
It remains to be seen whether Spurs will be interested in the midfielder, despite having recently made significant investments in young talent in Skipp’s position.
Skipp deserves a Premier League move this summer.
If Leeds signed Skipp, they would have a very powerful midfield setup after adding Rothwell for cover.
Farke may, however, want more from his midfield in terms of final third productivity, given Glen Kamara’s sale this week.
If that happens, he would be an excellent acquisition for Leicester, but you have to wonder if they can afford any contract at all given their current financial situation.
