According to Nau, Leeds United may have to spend up to £2.1 million for Liam Millar’s services this summer.
The Swiss newspaper goes on to state that the Whites have “expressed interest” in the former Preston loanee after a successful 2023/24 Championship campaign.
The West Yorkshire club is not the only one fighting for the Canadian’s move; recently demoted Sheffield United has also expressed interest in the attacker.
How likely is Liam Millar to join Leeds United this summer?
Millar, who had a successful season in the Championship with Preston last season, is clearly a hot topic right now.
The former Liverpool player scored five goals and provided five assists in 35 second-tier games, helping Preston climb into the top half of the standings.
By trade, the Canadian international is a striker, but he can also play on either wing.
This would not only make him an excellent substitute for the probably departing Crysencio Summerville [Ben Jacobs, 24 June], but would also provide the Whites with more tactical alternatives.
Indeed, the Netherlands youth international’s shoes are huge to fill, but Millar is a solid option who might develop into a player of that caliber in time.
If a transfer occurs, Millar is likely looking for a long-term deal [The Athletic, 23 June], which would be ideal for Leeds since, as Summerville demonstrated, given time, young players can bloom and fulfill potential they were unaware they possessed.
