Leeds Live looks at the current Leeds United betting prices on the day the 2024 summer transfer window starts for business.
Leeds United and their English rivals may now officially do business, as the 2024 summer transfer window opens today.
This hasn’t stopped the transfer mania from starting early. Leeds have previously faced their fair share of speculation, with reports of multiple significant outgoings to pay off transfer debt causing a Financial Fair Play (FFP) controversy.
“Let me begin by stating that we have adequate investing capital. We have the necessary finances to do our tasks. “The reality of being in the Championship is that P&S [Profit and Sustainability Rules] come into play,” chairman Paraag Marathe has now clarified.
“We also inherited a challenging situation, which you guys have all seen, so there will naturally need to be some trade-offs, but it’s not just outs, it’s ins as well.”
Clarifying his optimism about additions, he said: “We have a pretty good team looking at scouting opportunities for exceptional players we can bring in. We will have to make some trade-offs as a result of P&S, but we have the investment committed, which is what we need to do.”
The team will enter its second season in the Championship after being eliminated in the play-offs at Wembley Stadium, and the more that happens off the field, the more obstacles Daniel Farke will have on the pitch.
Top-quality acquisitions are arguably the greatest way to balance any specific outgoings involving beloved West Yorkshire players, so who is predicted to join and go from Elland Road this summer? Leeds Live analyzes the next summer window using Sky Bet’s current future club betting market:
Departures: Archie Gray
Archie Gray, 18, has caught the attention of some of the Premier League’s top after making 52 appearances last season. When called upon by Farke, the highly-rated youth demonstrated adaptability that few others could match. Decisions will be made as soon as a clear strategy is presented this summer, as the FFP scenario continues to drive affairs, and Chelsea are now the favourites to capitalise.
When his former club Leicester played Leeds twice last season, new manager Enzo Maresca got a first-hand look at Gray. However, if the Italian makes a move, he will face stiff competition from the remaining ‘Big Six’ of the top division.
Gray’s next club odds:
Chelsea 3:1 F
Tottenham Hotspur (6/1), Liverpool (7/1), Manchester City (8/1), Arsenal (12/1), and Crystal Palace 12/1 Manchester United 33/1 Crysencio Summerville
The Maresca influence strikes again, with the Chelsea manager likely to return to his former division and sign Crysencio Summerville from Leeds. The 22-year-old stayed with the club after being relegated last summer, eventually establishing his worth by scoring 21 goals and recording 10 assists in 43 games, and it now appears that his exit is inevitable.
Chelsea are the clear favourites over a number of Premier League opponents, however Liverpool’s name remains in the mix and not far behind, despite their interest being rumored to have halted.
Summerville’s next club odds:
Chelsea 3:1 F
Liverpool (10/3)
Crystal Palace (6/1)
Tottenham Hotspur: 8/1
Aston Villa (9/1)
Newcastle United (10/1)
West Ham United (10/1)
Signings: Aaron Ramsdale
The team has been given a small chance as extreme outsiders to sign Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal this summer.
Arsenal’s goalkeeping situation appears to be obvious, with the club poised to use the £27 million buy option included in David Raya’s initial £3 million loan from Brentford. Last season, the Spaniard was trusted ahead of Ramsdale, with the former making 41 appearances to the latter’s 11 for Mikel Arteta’s team.
The 26-year-old made England’s Euro 2024 team, but if he wants to replace Jordan Pickford as first-choice, a future transfer to find consistent minutes may be required. Championship football may not be the ideal way to reach this aim, but Leeds remains on the list.
Ramsdale next club odds:
- Newcastle 4/6 F
- Atletico Madrid 5/1
- Manchester United 7/1
- Southampton 8/1
- Chelsea 10/1
- West Ham United 10/1
- Leicester City 16/1
- Bournemouth 20/1
- Wolves 20/1
- Nottingham Forest 25/1
- Leeds United 50/1
The addition of the Republic of Ireland international would be an exciting one, though at present it is suggested Leeds would have to fight off competition from favourites West Ham and Everton for his signature. Turkish side Galatasaray are even in the running, as are Saudi Arabian clubs…
Szmodics next club odds:
- West Ham United 3/1 F
- Everton 4/1
- Galatasaray 8/1
- Leeds United 8/1
- Nottingham Forest 8/1
- Brentford 10/1
- Ipswich Town 10/1
- Leicester City 10/1
- Any Saudi Pro League club 16/1
- Brighton 20/1
- Luton Town 33/1
