Leeds United’s move for a £6 million star falls through, with the Bundesliga club now poised to sign him

Leeds United are looking for fresh players in Europe during the January transfer window. And it appears that Daniel Farke is particularly interested in signing a new centre-back, with numerous names mentioned thus far.

Leeds United lacks depth at centre-back. And it appears that Daniel Farke recognises this, as his Leeds team has recently been connected with a number of possible centre-back signings.

Most recently, it has been suggested that Farke may rejoin with Andrew Omobamidele, whom he managed at Norwich City and who is scheduled to leave Nottingham Forest on loan during the January transfer window.

Abdukodir Khusanov of RC Lens has also been suggested, though Manchester City now wants to sign him, and Rennes defender Christopher Wooh has been linked with a winter move to Elland Road.

Leeds have recently enquired about signing Wooh from Rennes, where he is attracting a lot of interest from throughout Europe. Furthermore, Rennes is eager to sell Wooh, who is valued at £6 million.

Leeds United’s Christopher Wooh’s ambitions were shattered by Stuttgart.

However, Wooh does not appear to be joining Leeds United in January. Instead, it appears that the Cameroonian international will leave Ligue 1 for the Bundesliga, with Stuttgart reportedly closing in on a deal.

According to an emerging claim from French publication Lebledparle Sport, Wooh is now ‘likely to join Stuttgart’ during the January transfer window, with the move ‘already a done deal’. However, no transfer price is stated beside the transaction.

Wooh, 23, started his career with Nancy and then moved on to RC Lens before joining Rennes for the 2022/23 season. He has now made 43 Ligue 1 appearances for the club, but he will now try his hand in Germany’s top division.

Daniel Farke’s latest transfer ambitions for Leeds United.

Leeds will not be conducting a lot of business in January. Instead, it has long been assumed that the club will make incremental improvements to the team while also managing who leaves.

Speaking after the Black Rovers tie, Farke said that Leeds United’s January transfer plans have not changed, and that his team will be more’reactive’ than active.

He said: “Our recruitment is prepared for every scenario. We’re just being reactive in the market because we can’t afford to have four or five players in every position.

“I do not believe these injuries are that significant. This game will not have an impact on the January window.”

Despite Leeds’ lack of centre-backs, Wooh’s move to Stuttgart may not be a major setback. Plenty of other names have been linked, and the Whites are expected to sign at least one before the transfer window closes.
