The Met Office’s latest update does not appear to indicate that Leeds United’s game against Blackburn Rovers at Elland Road would be postponed.
High winds and heavy rain are anticipated across much of the United Kingdom on Wednesday (1 January), when Leeds face Blackburn at Elland Road.
According to the Met Office’s most recent forecast on Tuesday evening (December 31), Yorkshire will be one of the affected regions.
The weather warning is presently merely yellow, which is expected to cause traffic disruption and floods.
However, as things stand, this is unlikely to have an impact on the game at Elland Road.
Leeds United to keep momentum going against Blackburn Rovers.
The last thing Leeds wants is for one of their games to be canceled, but if this latest update is any indication, that is unlikely.
Several Championship games were canceled earlier this month due to inclement weather, and one or two more may be canceled in the following weeks.
With the game scheduled to go on as planned, Daniel Farke will be eager to maintain his team’s momentum.
Leeds finished 2024 on a high note, with three wins in a row and six games without defeat, but they must not slow off from here.
Blackburn have only taken one point from the past nine available, leaving them open for grabs at Elland Road, where a fan favourite will make his return.
That is not to imply that this will be an easy game, but Farke’s side are the clear favourites and must win games like these.
Following a very successful weekend in terms of results, let’s hope for more of the same in the following round of action to kick off 2025 in style.
